நயோமியும் சின் கே வும் தங்கள் பயணத்தில் பல்வேறு இடையூறுகளை சந்திக்க நேர்ந்தது. எதிரில் எதிர்ப்பட்ட அத்தனை விலங்குகளையும் அவன் தாக்கி வீழ்த்திய போதெல்லாம் நயோமி அவன் சண்டையிடும் காட்சிகளை கண்டு ரசித்தாள். சண்டை முடிந்தபின்னர் சின் கேவுக்கு தாகம் எடுத்தது. உடனே அவள் தன் கைகளில் இருந்து அவனுக்கு குடிக்க கொடுத்தாள்.

“அப்போ நம்ம உலகத்தில் ஒரு போதும் தண்ணிக்கு பஞ்சம் இல்லேன்னு சொல்லுங்க இளவரசி.” என்றான்.

“ரொம்ப சரி.” என்றவள் சிரித்தாள்.

மீண்டும் பயணம் ஆரம்பித்தது. அப்போது அவர்கள் ஒரு ஆற்றை கடக்க வேண்டி இருந்தது. வேறு வழியின்றி இருவரும் கைகோர்த்து ஆற்றில் இறங்கி மெல்ல மெல்ல முன்னேறினார்கள். திடீரென ஒரு வேகமான காற்று வீசவே பிடி தளர்ந்து இருவரும் நீரில் அடிக்கப்பட்டு சென்றார்கள்.

“நயோமி!”

“சின் கே.”

“இன்னிக்கி ஏழாவது நாள். நாம இன்னும் அந்த பாலத்தை அடையல்ல. இந்நேரம் சின், நயோமி கூட அங்க நமக்காக காத்துகிட்டு இருக்கலாம்.” என்றான் ரியூகி.

“ஆனா சுத்தி 10 கிலோ மீட்டர் தூரத்தில் யார் பேசுற சத்தமும் எனக்கு கேக்கவே இல்லை.” என்றாள் சோஃபி வருத்தத்துடன்.

“அப்படின்னா அவங்க ஆபத்துல இருக்காங்களா?” என்று அலைஸ் பயத்துடன் கேட்டாள்.

“வருத்தப்படாதே கண்டிப்பா நாம எல்லோரும் ஒண்ணா சேர்ந்து தான் அரண்மனைக்கு போக போறோம்.” என்றாள் கோரின். அப்போது கியோன் வானத்தை பார்த்து கொண்டே, நடுங்கிய குரலில்.

“இதுங்க நம்மள ஒண்ணா சேர்த்து கொல்ல போகுதுன்னு சொல்லுங்க.” என்றதும் எல்லோரும் பார்த்தனர். ஒன்றோ இரண்டோ அல்ல. கிட்டத்தட்ட பத்து ட்ராகன்களாவது இருக்கும் இவர்களை நோக்கி பறந்து வந்தது.

“எப்படி இவற்றை சமாளிக்குறது?” என ரியூகி கேட்டான்.

“நான் வேணும் என்னா வாய திறந்து கத்தவா?” என சோஃபி கேட்டாள்.

“எதுக்கு பத்தோடு பதினொன்னா எங்களையும் சேர்த்து கொல்லவா? சும்மா இரு” என்றான் கியோன்.

கியோன் சோபி இருவரும் இரண்டு ட்ராகன்களை, ரியூகி இரண்டு, அலைஸ் இரண்டு, நாகடோ இரண்டு, கோரின் ஒரு ட்ராகனை சமாளிக்க வேண்டி இருந்தது.

“இதுங்க ரெண்டையும் சேர்த்து தூக்கவே முடியல.”என்றான் நாகடோ.

சோபி அங்கும் இங்கும் மரத்துக்கு மரம் தாவி ஒரு ட்ராகனில் ஏறிக்கொண்டு அதை தாக்கி கொண்டே இருந்தாள். கியோன் வாளால் சண்டையிட ,ரியூகி நட்சத்திர சண்டையில் இருந்தான். அலைஸ் தனது தேனீக்களை வரவைத்து அதனூடே தாக்கினாள். ரியூகி ஒன்றை கொன்றான். நாகடோ ஒரே நேரத்தில் இரண்டையும் தூக்கி வீசி கொன்றான்.

“ஹாஹா.. ஒரே கல்லில் ரெண்டு மாங்கா”

“பேசினது போதும் வந்து எனக்கு ஹெல்ப் பண்ணு…”

என கோரின் அழைக்க நாகடோ வந்தான். ரியூகியை தாக்க வந்த மற்ற ட்ராகன் ஒரு ஓரத்தில் பயத்துடன் நின்றுகொண்டிருந்த நுரீகோவை நோக்கி செல்ல உடனே விரைந்து செயற்பட்டு நாகடோ அதையும் கொன்றான்.

“என்னோட மனைவியை காயப்படுத்த நான் விடுவேனா?” என்று வீர வசனம் வேறு. அவள் புன்னகை புரிய,

“அப்பறமா வந்து உன்னை பார்க்கிறேன் டார்லிங்.” என்று கொண்டே அடுத்த ஆட்டத்துக்கு தயாரானான்.

“யோவ் வாயா? இதுங்களை சமாளிக்க முடியவில்லை.” என கியோன் அழைத்தான்.

எல்லோரும் சேர்ந்தே அந்த ஒன்பதாவது ட்ராகனை கொன்றனர். ஆனால் ஒன்று மட்டும் பலம் வாய்ந்ததாக இருந்தது. அது அவர்களை மிகவும் ஆக்ரோஷமாக பார்த்து சத்தம் எழுப்பியது.
