பட்டதாரி இளைஞரான இவர் மக்களிடம் சேமிப்பின் அவசியத்தை உணர்த்தும் வகையில் வித்தியாசமான முயற்சியில் ஈடுபட்டார். இவருக்கு நீண்ட நாட்களாக ஒரு பைக் வாங்க வேண்டும் என்ற ஆசை இருந்தது.
சேலம் மாவட்டம் அம்மாபேட்டை பகுதியைச் சேர்ந்தவர் பூபதி என்பவரே இவ்வாறு பைக் வாங்கியுள்ளார்.
ரூ.2 இலட்சத்து 60 ஆயிரம், ஒரு ரூபாய் நாணயங்களை மட்டுமே கொடுத்து பைக் வாங்க திட்டமிட்டார். இதற்காகச் சில்லறை நாணயங்களை முதலில் பூபதி சேமித்து வந்தார். ரூ.10 ஆயிரம் வரை சில்லறை நாணயங்களை சேமிக்க முடிந்தது.
மீதம் கையில் இருந்த பணத்தை பழனி உள்ளிட்ட பெரிய கோவில்களில் கொடுத்து அதை சில்லறையாக மாற்றினார். இந்த சில்லறைப் பணத்தை கொண்டு, ஒரு ரூபாய் நாணயங்களை மட்டுமே ரூ.2 இலட்சத்து 60 ஆயிரம் ரூபாய் சேமித்து பைக் வாங்கினார்.
