பர்ஹா பரபரப்புடன் பரீனாவின் பின்னால் ஓடினாள்.
”அடி… வாப்பா எந்துகன் கூப்புட்ட? ”
அவளை மெதுவாகத் திரும்பிப் பார்த்த பரீனா,
”எனக்கு தெரியா? ஆனா… எந்தியோ நடக்க போற என்டு வெளங்கிய! ”
அவளை கண்ணிமைக்காது பார்த்தவள்,
”சரி… வா போம்..”
இருவரும் வீட்டுக்குள் நுழைந்தவுடனே சித்தியும்மா பர்ஹாவின் கைகளைப் பிடித்துக் கொண்டு முன்னறையின் பக்கமாக நடந்தாள்.
”உம்மா எந்தேன் நடக்கிய இங்க? ”
மௌனமாகவே நடந்து சென்றாள். அந்த அறையில் பர்ஹாவின் வாப்பா தீவிரமாக ஏதோ யோசித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார். இவர்களைக் கண்டதும்,
”மகள்…. பர்ஹா… என்னய மன்னிச்சிக்கோ… அந்த சம்பந்தம் கைக்கு வரல்ல…. ஆனாலும் இன்னொன்டு வந்தீச்சி… அதுக்கு நீ ஒத்துகொலோணும்…”
அவரின் வார்த்தைகளில் தெரிந்த வேதனையை ஜீரணிக்க முடியாமல் தவித்த பார்வையை வீசியவள் சட்டென அவரின் கைகளைப் பற்றி,
”வாப்பா… நீங்க எனகிட்ட கேக்க எந்த தேவயும் இல்ல… ஒங்கட இஷ்டப்படி செய்ங்கோ…. ”
சித்தியும்மா இடையில்,
”அந்த எடத்த பத்தி தெரிஞ்சிகோ…” என்றதற்கு
”வாப்பாவ பத்தி நல்லா தெரீம் உம்மா எனக்கு அத பத்தி கவல இல்ல….”
கண்களில் கண்ணீருடன் அவளையே பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தனர் அவளின் பெற்றோர்.

”தாத்தா…. எந்தேன் நடந்த உள்ளுகு? ”
பரீனாவின் ஆவல் ததும்பிய முகத்தைப் பார்க்க சிரிப்பாக வரவே,
”அடியேய்… நீ ஒட்டு கேட்டதானே?”
கண்களை உருட்டி,
”இல்லடி… அது கொஞ்சம் தான் வெளங்கின….”
”ஓ…. அப்ப போ…. நான் செல்லியல்ல….”
பொய்க்கோபம் கொண்டவளாய் சென்றவளை பின்னாலேயே துரத்தியபடி சென்ற பரீனா ஒருகணம் அமைதியானாள்.
”இந்த கொமருகளுக்கு மஹ்ரிபுக்கும் கூத்து தான்…. எப்ப தான் திருந்த போறோ? ”
புளம்பிக் கொண்டு சென்ற உமும்மாவை பார்த்து மெதுவாகச் சிரித்த பரீனாவின் முகத்தில் கைகளைப் பொத்தி அறைக்கு அழைத்துச் சென்றாள்.
”அடி…. அவட முன்னுகு சிரிச்சாத…. தெரீம் தானே ஒனக்கு”
முறைத்துக்கொண்டே,
”இப்டி தானே அவ ஏசிய? ”
மீணடும் இருவரும் சிரிக்க தொடங்கிவிட்டனர். சற்று நேரத்தில் சித்தியும்மா,
”பர்ஹா…. ரெடியாகி நில்லு…. வாப்பா சென்ன எடத்துலீந்து ராவேக்கி வாராம்…”
பர்ஹாவால் அவளது உம்மாவின் முகத்தில் தெரிந்த குழப்பத்திற்கு காரணம் தெரியவில்லை.
”தாத்தா…. இப்பவா? ”
பரீனா ஆச்சரியாகக் கேட்டாள்.
