கரண்ட் இல்லை

எனக்கு ஏன் இப்படி வியர்த்துக் கொட்டுகிறது. எங்கும் இருள் சூழ்ந்திருக்கின்றது. ஒவ்வோர் அடியாக மெதுவாக எடுத்து வைக்கிறேன்.

இங்கே எரிந்து கொண்டிருந்த மெழுகுவர்த்திக்கு என்னவானது… முழுதும் உருகி விட்டதா…?

“பேதமை என்பது யாதெனில் ஏதம் கொண்டு ஊதியம் கைவிடல்”

மகள் பாடம் செய்யும் குரல் மெதுவாய் ஒலிக்கிறது.

இன்னும் சிறிது முன்னோக்கி நகர்கிறேன். மெழுகுவர்த்தி வெளிச்சத்தில் மகள் படித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறாள்.

“மகள்… மகள்….” என்று அழைக்கிறேன். என் குரல் வெளிவருவதில்லை. எனக்கு என்ன ஆகிவிட்டது என தடுமாறியவளாக மீண்டும், “மகள்… மகள்…” என சத்தமிடுகிறேன்.

“என்ன அம்மா… என்ன…” என மகள் எனை பிடித்து எழுப்புகிறாள்.

“நான் மெழுகுவர்த்தி எங்கே” எனக் கேட்கும் போது, எனக்கு ஏதோ புரிந்தது. நடந்ததை மகளிடம் சொல்கிறேன்.

“அய்யோ! அம்மா கனவில் கூடவா கரண்ட் இல்லை” என்று சிரித்த மகள். “விடியல் தூரமில்லை அம்மா” என்று சொல்கிறாள்.

குறள் விளக்கம்: பேதைமை (எதுவும் அறியாத  முட்டாள்தனம்) என்பது என்னவென்றால் தனக்கு கெடுதியானதைக் கைகக்கொண்டு நன்மையான விட்டு விடுவதாகும்.
