Trinity College, Kandy and Richmond College, Galle resumed their battle in the U19 Division I schools cricket tournament tier ‘A’ final for day 2, while Royal College met Wesley College today (9th April) in their relegation game at Nalanda College grounds.

On day two, Richmond College resumed their innings with the overnight score of 14 for no loss. Richmond openers took a positive approach with looking to pounce on anything loose from the Trininty bowlers.

Opening batter Nikil Jayaweera stood tall for the Richmondites by scoring classy 139 runs comprising 13 boundaries and a six. Shehan De Zoysa batting at number 6 played second fiddle to Nikil as he scored a solid knock of 50 ruins to help Richmond go past the Trinity first innings score.

Richmond College ended their innings with a massive 304 runs on the board, Tharana Wimaladharma topped the bowling charts for Trinity College by picking up 4 wickets. At stumps for day 2 Trinity College were 38 for the loss of one wicket.

At Nalanda College grounds, Wesley College managed to put on a competitive score of 276 in their first innings. Lithium senuja Jethon Wyman scored half centuries for Wesley, leaving the Royal bowlers beg for wickets. Royal College were 69 for the loss of one wicket at stumps with Ovina Ambanpola and Hirun Matheesha at the crease.
